Boom Fitness had the privilege of working with the Fairfield Highschool athletes for 8 weeks over the summer. Below is our letter to the parents explaining our program.

You are receiving this letter because your son or daughter participated in our 8-week summer strength and conditioning program and we would like to share a bit more about the methodology of what we have done and our goals for your kids.

Our 8-week program is designed to greatly increase strength, endurance, and mental toughness as well as building confidence and teamwork. We (Jeff Stone 26 and Ti Liptak 22) founded Boom Fitness in Fairfield with the desire to create more capable individuals and improve the athletic programs in town. We are delighted to have had the opportunity to work with the FHS athletes this summer.

As trainers, we implement a range of movements that have been proven to increase athletic performance. Our broadest goal is to increase physical work capacity (power output) while developing camaraderie and confidence. The most important aspects to consider in any workout program are: Safety, efficacy, and efficiency.  EG: Does it quickly get results, while minimizing chance of injury? With this in mind, we focus primarily on three areas of functional movements (full body / non-isolating / compound movements): Weight lifting / Olympic lifting (The ability to control external objects), Gymnastics  (Body Control), and Metabolic conditioning (Control of breath). For each of these modalities, we started each individual with the most basic core technique. Note: As intimidating as these movements may sound, each can be scaled / modified to accommodate any fitness level. Once the individual can move correctly, we will introduce some weight, expand on the gymnastic movement, and increase the amount of work done while decreasing the timeframe. The goal is always the same, increasing work capacity (power output) across broad time domains through different physical activities. When it comes time to step on the field, court, or other daily actions, if they have consistently attended our program, we are confident they will have a major physical step up on the competition while being mentally tough.

How About You?

Whether you are a competitive high school athlete or just looking to get into shape the same theory is applicable to you. Individual’s needs vary by degree NOT kind. We all need to be able to move our bodies, pick things up, etc. At Boom Fitness we work with a huge range of age and athletic ability. Our clients range from 9 – 65 years of age and all of them notice different benefits to their everyday lives. If it works for everyone from Olympic swimmers to the sedentary, overweight, pathological, and elderly, it WILL work for you. To us, fitness is just a measure of health.

We kindly invite you to visit our gym and attend an introduction class to find out if we can assist you with your fitness goals. A big emphasis at Boom is creating a fun and supportive group environment to work out in. We teach a fitness class led by an instructor where everyone warms up together, learns / practices the skills needed for the day. From here, everyone participates and completes WOD (workout of the day) together. Depending on experience and fitness level, movements are scaled to be each individual so it’s doable but challenging enough for the body to respond. Results come from the body adapting to the work you are asking it to do. Once the WOD is completed, everyone cools down and stretches together.
